The Cigarette Butt Girl
The driving force behind No Butts Day is Bernadette Hakken, teacher by day and in her free time superhero Het Peukenmeisje (aka The Cigarette Butt Girl). She has been for years dedicated to the cause of raising awareness on littered cigarette filters on the streets and it’s impact on the environment. Through her actions and campaigns she makes clear how big the problem is and how anyone can contribute to a solution.
Pick Litter Man
Co-organizer is Plandelman aka Pick Litter Man, the alter ego of journalist Anton Damen: more optimistic than Superman and greener than the Hulk. He invented the Dutch word ‘plandelen’ (for plastic walking) and is a binfluencer on social media who with small and big cleanup events hopes to inspire others to discover the superhero in themselves. www.plandel.nl
Plastic Cigarette Filter Collective
This dynamic duo is part of a collective of likeminded people: het PPC (Plastic Cigarette Butt Collective), where organizations and individuals as GoClean, Zwerfie Rotterdam, Stichting De Noordzee en Fair Resource Foundation are participating. Each with their own specific attitude or focus, but with the shared goal of banning the butt.
The Plastic Cigarette Butt Collective is a dynamic network: organizations and individuals can join at various times and play an active role. Currently, the aforementioned organizations are active participants, as well as a group of committed volunteers. Together, they pool their knowledge, experience, and reach to form a powerful voice for a cleaner, plastic-free future.
